Peregrin "Merry" Took, known to most as Merry, is a Hobbit of the Shire from J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth writings. He first appears in the first book of The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring.
Merry is portrayed as one of Frodo Baggins's closest friends and a loyal companion on the quest to destroy the One Ring. Resourceful and intelligent, he is often underestimated due to his Hobbit nature.
